Why you are not where you want to be

Asalam alaykum. Hello again. I was just thinking about how sometimes we are hesitant or scared to try something new or different. For instance, you hear about a good idea or business opportunity yet you do absolutely nothing. Why?

Well, inaction could be as a result of one of or a combination of the following reasons:

1. Procrastination

The "I'll do it later" sickness. You keep putting off things that can be done right now till some other time. In time you will come to realize that you could have done so much if only you acted as quickly as you thought.

2. Aversion to Risk

You afraid of trying something new. And the saying goes, nothing ventured nothing gained.

3. Lack of Understanding

Not knowing the right things, tools or approach to a trade will greatly affect your money making abilities.

4. Self Doubt

Telling yourself you'll fail even before you start. worrying about what people will think or say about you.

All of these limiting factors can be overcome, thankfully, with commitment and patience

What to do:

1. Act.

As soon as you think 'it' move into action don't wait. Write your thoughts down and break them down into doable and measurable steps to be taken. Then begin your journey.

For the longest time I toyed with the idea of writing/blogging. But I kept putting it off and giving myself reasons not to. Until i realized that I will never know for certain if I'm good at it or not, unless i try.

2. Be accountable to yourself and others, where possible.

Speak the truth and let it set you free. As a follow up to your plan, you have check what you have done against what you originally set out to do. You may find it helpful to give regular updates to family or friends who can encourage and keep you on track. Having a support group or cheering squad is important.

3. Get all the facts.

Identifying all the pros and cons of a venture is very vital. Actual risk, not perceived risk, should be taken into account. Find ways to mitigate these risks and move ahead.

4. Take time to understand the process.

Ask those who are knowledgeable in the area you are interested in. Hands-on learning is the best approach and you'll be able to create opportunities for yourself with proper understanding.

5. Believe in yourself.

Talk yourself into action. You are your own hero. If you fall, don't just sit there, get up rub your bum and keep moving. Understand why you fell, learn from it and move on. Stop being your own negatron.

Here's to a greater you and me.

I'll be back. In sha Allah. Take care of you.
